SwiftKey's AI Revolution: More Than Just a Keyboard

Midjourney

Microsoft has just rolled out an exciting update to its SwiftKey mobile keyboard app for iOS and Android. No longer just a tool for faster and more accurate typing, SwiftKey is now positioning itself as a multi-functional platform. The app's new features include AI camera lenses developed in partnership with Snapchat, which provide over 250 tools and filters for photos, videos, and GIFs. As if crafting the perfect selfie wasn't entertaining enough, you can now layer it with additional effects to capture your best angles.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg. SwiftKey has also introduced AI-generated stickers, accessible through Bing's Image Creator directly within the app's keyboard. You can create personalized stickers from your own selfies or photos and share them across various messaging platforms, like WhatsApp and Messenger.

Grammar aficionados will appreciate the AI-powered "Editor" function aimed at enhancing your writing. Highlight a sentence, the feature will offer instant feedback on spelling, punctuation, and grammatical structures.

These updates underline a growing trend in the tech industry: the transformation of single-purpose apps into versatile platforms through AI integration. The new SwiftKey features are currently rolling out to both iOS and Android users, so you'll be able to try them out for yourself shortly. As mobile technologies continue to integrate AI in increasingly innovative ways, it's clear that our smartphones are becoming not just smarter but also more personalized and expressive.

Bing Leaps Forward with AI Upgrades: What You Need to Know

Midjourney

Microsoft has recently announced several significant updates to its Bing search engine, with a particular focus on the integration of artificial intelligence technologies. Most noteworthy is the incorporation of OpenAI's DALL-E 3 model, an advanced system designed for more accurate and intricate image generation. This model succeeds Bing's earlier version and promises enhanced visual outputs, including nuanced renderings of eyes, fingers, and shadows, thereby pushing the boundaries of what users can expect from automated image creation.

Another significant update pertains to digital watermarking for AI-generated images. Known as "Content Credentials," this technology seeks to instill a greater degree of transparency and authentication in the digital realm. By adding invisible digital watermarks, the system complies with the standards set forth by the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), a body that includes high-profile members such as Adobe, Intel, and Sony. This development signifies a proactive approach to counter the growing challenges tied to digital misinformation.

The concept of user experience is also undergoing revision, with Bing now offering more personalized search results. Leveraging data from prior interactions on Bing Chat, the engine aims to refine the search experience by considering the user's historical preferences and queries. This feature is particularly significant given that Microsoft's own data suggests that over 60% of search activities involve users modifying their original search queries, thereby extending the search time without necessarily improving the outcome.

Additionally, Microsoft is integrating AI capabilities into its broader ecosystem, including Windows applications like Paint, Photos, and the Microsoft 365 suite. The advent of Microsoft 365 Chat, an AI assistant tailored for the workplace, marks the enterprise expansion of Microsoft's AI offerings. Overall, these advancements across Bing and Windows applications reflect Microsoft's strategic commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence for the enhancement of user interaction and digital information processing.

🛠️ Autoflows: The AI-Powered Future of Customer Support by Forethought

Forethought, a vendor specializing in customer service chatbots, has introduced a new feature called Autoflows. This system uses natural language prompts to not just answer customer queries but also perform a series of tasks, often involving multiple systems. Powered by SupportGPT, a generative AI model, Autoflows aims for a more dynamic and human-like conversation with customers. While it currently requires human oversight for fine-tuning tasks, the goal is for the AI to handle as much as possible autonomously. Autoflows has been in early beta but is now open to the public. It has been shown to improve resolution rates compared to traditional workflows.

💡 Salesforce & Airkit.ai: Pioneering the Future of Low-Code AI Solutions

Salesforce has announced its intention to acquire Airkit.ai, a low-code platform specializing in AI-powered customer service agents for e-commerce businesses. Founded in 2017, Airkit.ai had recently relaunched with a GPT-4-based platform enabling companies to build specialized customer service chatbots. This acquisition is particularly notable given that the co-founders of Airkit.ai had previously sold another startup, RelateIQ, to Salesforce for $390 million. The acquisition will see Airkit.ai integrated into Salesforce's Service Cloud, with the deal expected to close by January 2024. Airkit.ai had received $68 million in total funding, including investments from Salesforce Ventures.

📷 Revealed: Google Pixel 8 to Transform Photo Editing with AI

The latest leak surrounding the Google Pixel 8 reveals significant upgrades in AI camera capabilities. The phone will feature a Magic Editor, which allows users to edit photos in real-time, combining multiple shots into one or even altering the lighting. The device will also offer DSLR-style manual controls, enabling changes to shutter speed and ISO.

💻 Global Launch: Google's Studio Bot Now Assists Devs in 170 Countries

Google is expanding its AI-powered coding assistant, Studio Bot, to over 170 countries and territories. Initially launched for Android developers in the U.S. in May, Studio Bot is designed to assist in generating code, fixing errors, and answering Android-related questions. Although the tool is expanding globally, it's still intended for English-language usage. Studio Bot is currently available through the canary release channel of Android Studio.
